Is it even worth applying to ivy league, stanford or unc chapel hill with a B?
Author: Amy Adams // Category: Chapel Computer ProgrammingI got a B freshman year but have a 3.9 GPA. All honors and AP courses. Still ranked number one (my school bases it off of weighted GPA) but I don’t have an unweighted 4.0. Is it worth it?
My parents are unc chapel hill alumni and they want me to go there or an ivy league.
One B will not kill your chances at any university. Heck, a few Bs won’t, provided you’re clearly challenging yourself and working to improve. You’re right on track for Chapel Hill, and you’ve got the same shot at super-competitive schools like the Ivies and Stanford that any other top student does – which is to say, a small one, since it is so competitive. But again, don’t stress out over a B that’s already in the books. Figure out how you’re going to do better next semester, and also why you need to go to a top school so that your application isn’t just about how smart you are.

Yes, of course it’s worth it. Especially to UNC, if you like it–being a legacy will certainly help you there.
